This is a heart rendering story of a mother and her son. I came accross it when i was watching an Islamic tv channel one day, and i could not take my eyes off it. I thought i would share this with people and it does not matter whether you are Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu or whatever, because this applies to all of us in all of our lives.

In Islam taking care of your parents is one of the most important things if you want to become a pious person with the intention of going to paradise in the herafter. I know a few people through my work and circle of friends who have put their mother or father in care homes where they are getting mistreated and do not want to stay in the care homes. In Muslim families older members of the family, mainly mothers and fathers, are kept at home and looked after by family members living within the same household. I will now share with you what i came accross one Friday night when i was watching an Islamic tv channel.

Pray for Parents

I seek refuge in Allah, from the accursed Shaytaan.

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents.

If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.

And lower unto them the wings of submission and humility through mercy and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when i was small."

And say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when i was small."

Your Lord knows best what is in your inner-selves. If you are righteous, then, verily, He is Ever Most Forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again in obedience, and in repentance.

The Story

A heart rendering story of a mother and her son. For those who would take heed.

My mum only had one eye, i hated her, she was such an embarrassment!

She cooked for teachers and students to support the family

There was one day during primary school where she came to say hello to me

I was so embarrassed, how could she do this to me!

I ignored her, threw a hateful look and ran out

The next day one of my class mates said "Eeww, your mum only has one eye!"

I wanted to bury myself, i also wanted my mum to disappear

So i confronted her and said, "If you're only going to make me a laughing stock, why don't you just die!"

My mum did not respond

I didn't even stop to think for a second about what i had said, because i was full of anger!

I was oblivious to her feelings, i wanted out of that house

So i studied really hard and got a chance to go to Singapore

Then i got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own and i was happy with my life

Then one day my mother came to visit me. She hadn't seen me in years and she didn't even meet her grandchildren!

When she stood by the door my children laughed at her

I screamed at her, "How dare you come to my house and scare my children! Get out fo here now!

And to this my mother quietly answered, "Oh, i'm sorry i may have gotten the wrong address."

One day a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house

So i lied to my wife that i was going on a business trip

After the reunion i went to the old shack just out of curiosity

My neighbours said that she died

I did not shed a single tear

They handed me a letter she wanted me to have

To the smile of my life

My dearest son i think of you all of the time

I'm sorry that i came to Singapore and scared your children

I was so glad when i heard you were coming for the reunion

But i may not be able to even get out of bed to see you

I'm sorry i was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up

You see... when you were little, you got into an accident and lost your eye

As a mother i could not stand watching you having to grow up with one eye

So i gave you mine

Seeing a whole new world for me in my place with that eye

With my love to you

Your Mother

A Small Verse From The Quran

We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth

Quran, Surah 46 Al Ahqaaf Verse 15

So painful the child who became so hurt by himself after had been blind for so long, Lost under his worldly conceited mind and no way to fix it. so sad.

Why we care about other person passing comments on our family why not we just ignore them like a street dogwho is barking on every person, its not there fault exactly there parents didnt teach them to be a human being

I don't know who you are or why you have written this comment, but people should be aware of what their responsibilities are. In most cases, people don't learn from their parents but later on in life after experiencing ups and downs and realise what is important to them and what isn't. Before anything else, our parents are the most important in our life, and even if they did not teach us how to behave or how to be a human being, it is each and every individuals responsibility to look and learn.

God gave us all a brain, and if we leave a street dog to bark at every person it sees, then what are we doing to improve our community and society?

The reason why i have written this article is so that anyone who reads it may learn from it that after we were born, our parents looked after us day and night, until the day when we become independant and forget or don't remember what our mother and father went through to feed us, cloth us and show love to us.

I hope you've learnt something from reading this article. Thanks for your comment.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny said, "If you are performing recommended prayers and your father calls for you, do not break your prayers. But if your mother calls you, do break your prayers".

She is the most noble creature of the God! In Islam watching your mother is Ibadah..

Allah bless you for sharing such a wonderful story.

Nice story, except for the fact that there is no such thing as an eyeball transplant. Not to mention the fact that any person, of any religion, that would treat their parent in that manner, regardless of the parent's appearance, would be a disgraceful person.

G Miah profile image

G Miah Hub Author 10 months ago

Thanks for your comment, but this is not a real life story, this is a story just as an example for people to understand.

You would be surprised at how badly some people from different religions treat their parents.

Unfortunately not 10 months ago

I am a religious person. But that is irrelevant. I have seen people from all religions, and even those who were not religious, treat their parents exceptionally well. And I have seen people from all backgrounds treat their parents very badly. And yes, that includes Islam. The point is, it does not just matter how well we treat our parents. It matters how well we treat EVERYONE. Without that, the world well never change.

G Miah profile image

G Miah Hub Author 10 months ago

You are right with your comment. I agree with you totally. I am a religious person too and i know muslim people who mistreat their parents, i also know non muslim people who mistreat their parents, and i also know non mulsims who treat their parents better than some muslim people.

The point i am trying to make is that it is the parents responsibility to bring up their children in a good manner so that when they grow up, they appreciate the upbringing their parents gave them and repay the responsibilities over their parents. This will then teach them to treat OTHERS around them with good manners if Allah wills.

I am writing another article on the Muslim Youth of UK which will highlight the importance of child upbringing by their parents and how important for the children in later life.

Thank you for your comment.

A very beautyfull story at least with this story some people may respcet their mom and love them because exept the mother no one will give the love and by paying crore.s of we can get our mom so love ur mom and keep her happy allha will give u sucess

Islamic Stuffs 7 months ago

This is a really touching story. I already read it somewhere but one thing I would just add is always be good to our parents because they made a lot of sacrifice to make us become a person with an identity. We also are going to be mother/father one day, and whatever bad you did with your parents, will be returned to you by your own children!! Its not too late also to realise this!

May Allah Bless and Forgive all parents in this world.

By the way, I have just set up an Islamic Store in order to earn some money so as to help poor and disabled people. I am also thinking of creating an organisation for them also but that needs money. If you want you can promote it in whatever way you want.

N.B: When you will buy products from my store, the money that I will earn, will be considered as a donation to the creation of the organisation.

May Allah Bless us all in this humble effort !

Ameen

This is one of the most powerful, tear bringing stories i have ever read in my entire life. I cry everytime i read it. Although i reacive this as an email circulating, i would like to know where you got this story? I would like to present and share this story with my secondary school and spread the message so that people can hopefully appreciate their parents and love them. But if i want to present i need to credit the source from where i got the article, so can you please tell me whether this stroy is from a book, or a tv, show, if then which tv show. It would greatly help my cause.

@ Student

Hi and thanks for reading.

I got this story from Islam Channel. One night i came home from work and it was on, thankfully i could record it, so i wrote it all down and then published it here. It made me cry as i was watching it because they had images to go with it.

You can share the source which is Islam Channel, and i would appreciate it if you could direct people to my website aswell as i have other Islamic informative articles aswell, especially about Islam, Hajj, Dreams, Jinns and the end of the world according to Islam.

Thank you.

@ Jay

Hi Jay and thank you for reading and leaving your comment here.

I would recommend that you continously pray for your late mother, as dream interpretation is not accurate and not really recommended. I would recommend that you pray 5 times a day and read the Quran and pray for you late mother after every prayer and reading the Quran. Allah will forgive your mother and you will live a better life, inshallah.

I have written an article about Dreams in Islam, so you can have a look at that by finding it on my profile page. It will give you a better insight into dreams and how to protect yourself from satan, inshallah.

Thank you.

javed 3 months ago

there is another story having a strong message.there is a family with parents and one child (boy).unfortunately the father dies, his mother does not marry thinking that her child may suffer.she works hard and brings him up in life he grows to become a sucessful man.then he marries.his wife is of modern thinking and tells him to keep his mother separately, after some reluctance and to please his wife he keeps his mother in an old care home.after a few months his mother dies.he goes to collect the body.they hand him a box containing her articles.when he opens the box he finds his mother has preserved evrything from his childhood when he was small.his clothes, his books, shoes, small pieces of pencil, rubber etc.he cries a lot and curses himself for being a bad son.moral of story is pls.its time now u understood your duty towards your parents.and may ALLAH.SWT BLESS EVRYONES PARENTS.THEY BRING SO MUCH HAPPINESS IN OUR LIVES AND WE JUST FORGET THE GOOD TIME WE SPENT WITH THEM.

EMINA23 3 months ago
