We will find out how they started their eBay business, what are where they bought their items from and how to make money on eBay. Our successful eBayers will be called;
- Successful eBayer one
- Successful eBayer two
- Successful eBayer three
Successful eBayer One: The Car Boot Sales
With a local weekly car boot sale nearby, this successful eBayer only bought his stock from there. With a vast range of different items to buy at the car boot sales, he started off only buying single items each week and selling them on eBay. With profits saved up from recent sales of stock bought to sell on eBay from car boot sales, he successfully got all the money back which he invested and just used that capital to buy more and more stock.
- Successful eBayer one attended the car boot sales every week and bought stock for resale on eBay by spending up to £20 per week.
- His average profit from his online eBay business is around £60 a week.
- He bought items like computer parts, chargers, video games, books, handbags, freeview boxes etc to sell on eBay. Most of these items can be bought for around £0.50, so you can imagine that the profit margin is going to be high.
So, he spends around £20 per week and makes a business total of about £80 per week. Excluding the £20 for stock, his profit is around £60 per week. eBayer one saved up his earnings and is taking it nice and easy. He uses his eBay income to get him through the weekly expenses like petrol, food etc. His day job wages are spent on his mortgage, bills etc and he is able to save a chunk of it every month.

Successful eBayer Two: The Buyer Of Online Stock From Wholesalers
Researching and finding out online wholesalers of products to sell on eBay, successful ebayer two was buying online and then selling online for a good margin. This eBayer started off at the car boot sales, same as ebayer one and went on by himself to buy stock online to sell on eBay.
He used a few online wholesalers, and the most well known one is Ali Baba, from which he found success on eBay. Buying from various wholesalers, eBayer two bought items and sold them on for a profit. This was his way of going forward and becoming successful on eBay as he was comfortable and knowledgeable with it.
He felt his clients were getting 100% brand new products for a good price and his feedback would be positive at all times as there were no faulty items to his knowledge. This way he could build a good reputation on eBay and continue to provide a great service with excellent products.
eBayer two, since starting his online eBay business, has made a great online income stream and a third of his monthly wages extra every month.
Items he sells:
- Ornaments
- Electronic peripherals
- Mobile phone covers
- Chargers
and many other things.

Successful eBayer 3: The Auctions
Successful eBayer three started buying and selling on eBay with products bought from car boot sales, like the two people mentioned above. This eBay seller is excellent at research and he managed to find out about auctions around the UK. He found many auctioneers, and one day visited one of them. Having no experience at all of bidding at and winning bids at auctions, he was able to learn quickly and managed to buy his first lot of stock to re-sell on eBay.
His first lots of auction items were:
- In car CD players
- Memory foam pillows
- DVD players
- MP3 docking stations
These items and many others were customer returns being resold at auctions. There are many auctioneers across the United Kingdom who buy big pallets and containers from other suppliers. Majority of the returned customer items are in perfect condition and are sold on eBay as 'New Other', which is not exactly new, but near enough.
The profit margin from these items are massive. They can exceed the profit margin of more than a 1000%!!!
For example, he bought an in car CD player for £13 but sold it on eBay for well over £65! It gets even better, eBayer three bought an HP Touchsmart printer for £2 and sold it on for £83! It was in perfect working condition, and the only the thing was that it was an ex-display item!
eBayers who look to buy stock to sell on eBay should weary though, because some auctioneers seem honest and you think you will get a good deal, but this is far from the truth. Successful eBayer three took a friend to an auction which was over 200 miles away and they excitedly bought nearly £400 worth of stock to resell on eBay. To their surprise, on the way back from the auctions, they inspected the items which they bought, for example Sony Playstation 3's, Nintendo Wii's, Sony MP3 Docking stations and other things, they found that parts were missing and majority of them didn't even turn on!!!
This eBayer is the most successful out of the other two, because he would buy stock on a weekly basis between £80 to £100 and make a profit in excess of £300 per week. Plus this eBay seller has a day job, and he has decided to keep it!
