Will You Win The National Lottery?
An interesting fact, which most people will already know is that to win the National Lottery in UK you have a chance of 1 in 14 million!
You actually have more of a chance of getting struck by lightning, but people still win it and you will have to be in it to win it!
This is just a little thought before we get to the serious stuff.
Reliable Job Search Sites in UK
As you may have noticed, there are thousands of job search sites online accessible from anywhere in the world on your computer or laptop, but that doesn't mean they are all reliable job search sites or you will get jobs out of them.
Most job search sites are linked with other job search sites. For example if you go on one website and put in the term of vacancies you are looking for, you will get a list of jobs available, but when you press on them, they take you to another job search website where you can apply online for jobs or print out an application form.
These job search websites can be a waste of time because they nearly always have out of date job vacancies and do not really lead to anywhere to find potential employment.
Links For Reliable Job Search Sites In UK
The most reliable job search sites i have found and use on a regular basis are listed below with links to their home page. They are regularly updated and have a good user friendly platform for easy browsing of jobs which are easily filtered to your job titles.
These are just some of the most used and searched UK job sites on the internet. With most of the above you can also upload CVs and receive daily updates on new jobs in the career you choose.
The one that stands out from all of the above job search sites is Direct Gov, which was previously Jobcentre Plus or JCP. You can still type in Jobcentre or JCP in Google or Yahoo or any other search engine and you will end up on the Direct Gov website on top of all the search results. This site is excellent for local job searches because of the Local Employment Partnership which works with local employers to employ local people.
I have found Fish4Jobs and Banana Jobs very repetitive and end up with job searches that have closed or are linked to other job sites. There are many sites like these and they should be avoided AT ALL COSTS! An easy way to spot these sort of job sites is by seeing how many adverts and links they have and the massive amount of useless information on them.
Upload CVs On These Sites
You need to have an Excellent CV ready before you upload it on to any job search site. This is so that when a vacancy comes up, you have you CV updated and appropriate for the job you are applying for.
Uploading CVs on job search sites means you are putting yourself on the market for a job and employers who are registered with job search sites receive CVs in categories which they have requested from the site. This is why you need to make sure your CV is the best and stands out from the rest!
To upload CVs, please click on the above links to the job sites listed and register. The registration process is quite simple and quick so make sure you are as accurate as possible with the options available to you.
The information requested are the usual like name, address, contact details and job search preferences.
Having used some of the services available from the job search sites above, the updated jobs emailed regularly are excellent and searching for jobs is made easy and done for you by the job sites.
How To Carry Out A Job Search In UK
The most popular way of searching for jobs is at a Jobcentre Plus on a job search machine. Anyone who has registered with the Jobcentre already knows the system.
To have all the options available to you, it is best to use the internet to carry out job searches. This is because you have unlimited resources and options available to you.
How To Do Job Searches On The Internet
The quickest way to do job searches on the internet is by using Google. All you need to do is type in the job you are looking for and the area in which you are looking to work. This brings up search results for jobs of your choice and in the area you have chosen.
For example:
- I have searched for Admin jobs in Liverpool
- The search resulted in all jobs in Liverpool and from local job search sites
- Only Admin jobs came up in the search results
You then click on the results and read the job descriptions and make sure that the vacancy is still available. Some times vacancies can still be on the sites and out of date, so it will be a waste of time advancing further.
Follow the options on how to apply and do what is necessary to complete the application process.
The disadvantages of using Google for area job searches is that you will most probably get vacancies that are closed or does not fit your criteria for the job you are looking for. Somtimes the searches can lead to very heavily advert laden job sites and you may get lost in them!
The advice given here is to stick to the method of looking for jobs using specific job sites, like the ones above. You will be comfortable with the layouts and the interface of the web pages and WILL find what you are looking for.
How To Write A CV
A CV is the most important thing in anyone's working life, which needs to be updated continously if you are on a job hunt. Only people who are self-employed and don't work for anyone apart from themselves do not always require a CV.

Great tips, you know one thing i would add is to be a writer here in hubpages instead of looking for a job (or if you still didn't find one).
There are many UK hubbers here and they are quite successful, consider this as additional income then when you're ready become a full time job.
Great article, ooh what it is to have the perfect job & is it so rare that anyone actually has one? You have asked all the right questions & provided a great deal of reliable links & information here, nice work G! : )

As an ex Jcp+ employee I can recommend the Direct Gov jobsite- just take time to learn what it does- remember it is updated all the working day- so if there are no vacancies in your field- there could be one five minutes later
