How to Order an Indian Takeaway

How To Order An Indian Takeaway

Do you sometimes find that the person you are giving your order to is trying to hurry you up? Or is rushing you when you are trying to put your order in? When people are hungry and they fancy something nice from their favourite local takeaway, they expect to receive the best quality food, and service. The only problem is when the person giving the order is not matching the system which the waiter is using. You may be thinking whether there ever is/was a system? Well, there actually is a system to which waiters adhere to when taking orders, especially when they are using the traditional method of using a pen and a pad. It will be good to understand how the system works, so when you order the food next time, you may want to put it in practice and ask the waiter whether the order was given in an efficient way.

I have laid out the system that is always used below, for your information, so you will have a good understanding how it all works. This system is especially good when the restaurant/takeaway is very busy! So you will be helping them out!

The system that is used is clearly laid out below.

This is shown as an example of an order.

Out/table number

Poppadoms/chutneys

Starters

Main Meal

The order system is as above, but the way preferred by waiters is below.

This is the way the order is preferred to be taken in, although it is laid out exactly the same. The important thing about this is that the customerwill be of great help if they are as specific as possible. The more organised a customer is the quicker and easier it is to complete by the waiter. This improves the efficiency in taking the orders and giving it to the chef/kitchen.

Poppadoms (how many?) and any chutneys? (Specify which)

Starters (some starters are the same as main meals, so has to be specified as a starter)

Main meal (with chicken/lamb/prawn/king prawn etc… specify)

Side dish

Rice (what sort of rice? Specify whether it is Pilau rice, Mushroom Rice etc... If Boiled Rice, then say Boiled Rice!)

Breads (what sort of bread? Stuffed nan? Or plain? Be specific)

All the above information is obviously beneficial to the business, but it helps the business and staff to complete their job more efficiently, with some help from the customers. I hope you can you can now understand how sometimes some orders are delayed and affect the time it takes to be ready for you to collect your order.

If you order a delivery, it is advised to give the address details in full from the start. The best way to do this is when giving your address, to spell any names that may be difficult to spell, and when giving the phone number, if a local number, to give just the last numbers after the local area code. Some people waste time by giving unnecessary details, for example, after giving the address they start explaining the directions, which, nowadays is not needed because everyone uses a sat-nav.

I have been in this business for nearly ten years, this is why I would like to express my views to people who this may become helpful.
